What are the actual side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine?
Associate Professor Dorte Rytter from Aarhus University has received a grant of almost DKK 3 million from Independent Research Fund Denmark to identify the actual side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine.
As part of a major research project, more than 900,000 Danes have received a questionnaire about their vaccination against COVID-19. The purpose of the project is to identify the side effects of the vaccine, and Dorte Rytter from the Department of Public Health has received DKK 2,864,016 from Independent Research Fund Denmark to carry out the project.
The participants have received a total of four questionnaires. They answered the first questionnaire before vaccination and the others after each of the three vaccinations. This means that Dorte Rytter and her research colleagues can follow the development of symptoms over time and build a solid data basis to identify the side effects of the vaccine.
In the project, the researchers will also identify the frequency of more non-specific symptoms among those vaccinated in order to determine whether these symptoms are actual side effects. In other words, whether or not the symptoms relate to the COVID-19 vaccine.
The research project is a collaboration between Aarhus University, Aarhus University Hospital, Aalborg University Hospital and researchers from the Center for Clinical Research and Prevention in the Capital Region of Denmark.
